Spondylolisthesis

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Approximately 80% of the time there are no symptoms associated with spondylolithesis. The spondylolisthesis may become symptomatic from a relatively trivial trauma to the low back. The most common signs and symptoms include:

  • Chronic low back pain
  • Paraspinal muscle spasms
  • Hamstring muscle tightness
  • Walking (gait) abnormalities
  • Spinal nerve root syndrome with radiating pain, numbness and in more severe cases weakness.
  • Increased pain associated with increased physical activity
  • Waddling while walking

Spondylolisthesis can change your physical appearance. Some noticeable physical differences are:

  • Stomach sticks out
  • Torso looks shorter
  • Swayback (low back curves too far inward)
