Signs and Symptoms
Ataxia refers to a loss of muscular coordination resulting in irregular or abnormal muscle action. This often presents as difficulty walking and with a loss of equilibrium. Ataxia can also result in a loss of normal movement of any of the extremities often made worse with the eyes closed. Ataxia can occur secondary to a loss of sensation required for movement feedback. Brain and/or spinal cord compromise in result in ataxia.
